The Women's Institue of Kenora began and ran the Music Festival - 1939-1951
A thirteen-year hiatus during WWII and the post war recovery period - 1952
The Registered Teachers of Kenora supported the revival of a music festival. - 1957
The festival peaked at 1,000 entries involving over 5,000 persons. Some participants arrived by train from Dryden and surrounding areas. - 1958
The festival was split into two sections: instrumental and vocal music; and drama and dancing. - 1962
The name was changed to the Kenora District Festival of the Arts. - 1969
French verse was offered - 1974
The modified workshop (self improvement concept) was introduced.
Trophy competition was continued. - 1978
An upright piano was purchased. - 1984
A Concert Grand Kawai was purchased (thanks to a grant from the Wintario Lottery Foundation and fund raising efforts led by Lucia Melnick) - 1998
Dance workshops were sponsored. - 2008
A Visual Arts section was introduced. - 2010
